Fireworks will be set off in 63 provinces and cities nationwide on the night of February 13, the last day of the Lunar New Year of 2009 to welcome the Year of Tiger.
Tet (Lunar New Year) is upon the nation and Hoi An, in the central province of Quang Nam, is preparing big celebrations for this important festival, promising a good time for locals and tourists.
As many as 1,000 overseas Vietnamese (OV) throughout the world will return to Vietnam to participate in a programme called Xuan Que Huong (Spring in the Homeland) scheduled to take place on February 6. The programme is the first in a series of planned celebrations for the 1,000th founding anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
The greatest-ever tourism promotion program “Impressive Vietnam” has wrapped up, but incentives will continue for local travelers as the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has shifted its focus to domestic tourism as the core for development.
