Exhibition tells of lives of Mekong residents (31-03-2010 )
Nine stories of the lives, dreams and struggles of the people of three Mekong River countries - Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia - are featured at an exhibition in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang. “The Mekong’s story: Challenge and dream,” a mobile exhibition, was jointly opened at the provincial museum on March 30 by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Heritage and Culture under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The northern province of Bac Giang is working with several state agencies to put forward a case for the treasure of Buddhist prayer woodblocks in Vinh Nghiem Pagoda to be recognised by UNESCO as a World Documentary Heritage. The Truc Lam Buddhist Zen prayer woodblocks in the pagoda are now seen as culturally priceless as the 3,050 separate woodblocks were carved during the late 19th century to early 20th century.
