Bac Ninh Festival 2010 opened at the Kinh Bac Cultural Centre on the evening of April 17. The highlights of the festival included a grand ceremony to receive UNESCO’s certificates recognising the province’s Quan Ho (love duets) and Ca Tru (ceremonial singing) as intangible cultural heritage of humanity and a 15-minute firework display.
Vietnam and Myanmar, who share a number of cultural features, have agreed to more cultural exchanges in performing arts and archaeology.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People’s Committee of Phu Tho Province are urgently completing a dossier to submit to UNESCO for recognition of the “Belief and Hung Temple Festival” as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
About 10km from Viet Tri City in Phu Tho Province, the Hung Temple is a sanctuary complex which rests solemnly on the peak of Nghia Linh Mountain. The place is dedicated to the worship of the Hung Kings. The complex is also a venue for the Hung Temple Festival from the 1st to 10th days of the 3rd lunar month, or from April 14 to 23 on this year’s solar calendar.
An exhibition called “Balgo: Contemporary Australian Art from the Balgo Hills” will open at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, Nguyen Van Huyen Street, Hanoi on April 17. The event is a part of a program organized by the Australian Embassy called once in 1,000 years: An Australian Gift to Hanoi.
