The Da Nang City People’s Committee and Lam Dong province have signed an agreement with Vietnam Airlines to re-open an air route connecting Da Nang and Da Lat, a local paper has said.
Buddhist monks and calligraphers have opened a huge arts exhibition with thousands of paintings, calligraphy works and sculptures at the Pho Quang Pagoda to celebrate the 2,554th birthday of the Buddha. The birthday observed on the 14th day of the 4th lunar month.
Vietnamese folk singing or “Quan Ho Bac Ninh” has been included in the list of “Best in Asia 2010” published by the US magazine The Times. In an article entitled “Dial-a-Lovely-Old-Song” by Martha Ann Overland on May 13, the magazine categorised Vietnamese folk singing in the “The Best of Soul” section.
Some new and usual fruits will be on display at the Southern Fruit Festival which opens on June 1 at the Suoi Tien Cultural Tourist Park in HCMC. They include trai than ky (miraculous fruit) from Tien Giang Province which is reputed to make everything else eaten subsequently taste sweet too, La Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said.
The HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is inviting traders to join the Impressive Vietnam Grand Sale 2010 program and will receive registrations from next month, a tourism official said. La Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of the department, said that shopping centers, retail outlets and other traders could register at the department office at 140 Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street in District 3.
