The pagoda covers an area of 3.5 hectares and has a unique style of architecture compared to the other 140 Khmer pagodas in the locality. There’s a deep trench surrounding a the tall complex which has the stunning five peaks’ tower. The tower features some patterns and embossments of evil sprits, fairies and deity birds in vaults, pillars and the rooftop.
In August 1994 it was acknowledged as a national historical cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Legend has it that the pagoda was built at the end of the tenth century but according to old documents the pagoda was built before 1715 and was renovated in 1842.
It is 36 meters long and 24 meters wide and the highlight is a 30 square-meter wide altar for worshipping Buddha. In the center of the altar is the statue of Sakyamuni and another 50 smaller Budhhas made from wood or stone.
The pagoda is the most popular tourist attraction in Tra Vinh, especially on the occasion of Ok bom bok festival which falls on the fifteenth day of the tenth lunar month.
