Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lao leaders and friends have voted for Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO-recognised heritage site in Viet Nam’s northern coastal Quang Ninh Province, as one of the world’s new seven wonders.
Addressing the event, Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Bosengkham Vongdala emphasised the importance of Viet Nam Culture Week in the context where both countries had completed the Party Congresses, the elections and other important political events.
He said the exhibition reflects the strength of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples during the international integration.
Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh highlighted the traditional friendship and special solidarity between the two Parties, States and peoples as well as the recent results of the two countries’ bilateral relations.
Anh said he believed that this cultural event will help tighten and further develop the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos, particularly in the fields of culture, arts and tourism.
The week will last through September 4.
