Held by National Steering Board for the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi and Vietnam Institute of Society and Science, the exhibition displays nearly 1,000 typical vestiges of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – Hanoi through historical periods, including Dai La and dynasties of Dinh, pre-Le, Ly, Tran, Le So, Mac, Le Trung Hung and Nguyen. Of which, 230 vestiges was excavated in archaeological area at 18 Hoang Dieu Street and 709 vestiges was provided by Vietnam Institute of Society and Science. The vestiges displayed in 3 themes: building materials in imperial palaces, royal life and cultural exchange between Thang Long and world through ceramic objects mainly include patterned bricks, tiles for building the palaces; tools in the imperial palaces (bowl, plate, vase, pot…); statues (lion, dragon) in roofs of palace… Through the exhibition, the visitors can understand cultural features and architectural quintessence of Vietnamese dynasties.
Apart from the objects displayed in houses of N31-N33 and bureau of military operation, the visitors will be seen a part of the vestiges which are being preserved as their primitive status in the earth’s entrails at area A and area B of the archaeological area at 18 Hoang Dieu Street. And in order to create good conditions for the visitors in transfer between Hanoi Citadel and the archaeological area at 18 Hoang Dieu Street, management board of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – Hanoi used many solutions such as: traffic light, line to reduce speed…
On this occasion, the Hanoi Citadel also displays objects and revolutionary documents in house and tunnel D67, new documents about the Hanoi Citadel in house N14 and bonsais, antiques… in Hau Lau area.
The exhibition has important signification for promoting the Central Sector of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – Hanoi to the Vietnamese people and the international visitors as world cultural heritage. The exhibition will open until the end of October, 2010.
