Addressing the ceremony, To Minh Gioi, Deputy Chairman of Can Tho People’s Committee and head of the festival’s organsing board, said the festival closed after four successful days and had welcome about 1 million visitors.
The festival saw the participation of businesses from 30 provinces and delegations from the Republic of Korea, China, India, the Czech Republic, Japan and the US.
“Several contracts and memorandums have been signed following the trade promotion events at the festival’s trade fair, worth VND 260 billion (USD 13.6 million), including the value of seafood sold at the fair,” Gioi said.
The fair’s 470 stores recorded transactions and purchases from about 600,000 visitors. The festival’s art and cultural activities attracted a large number of people as well, with about 15,000 enjoying and taking part in traditional games and sports at the city’s Sports House.
At the ceremony, the organising board announced four seafood products and collections that had been recognized by the Vietnam Guinness Book of Records, including the biggest basa fish weighing 34kg, the biggest ho (carp) fish at 32kg, a 510g shrimp and the largest collection of 72 fishing tools.
